Jose Peseiro, the coach of Nigeria’s national team, is married to Fatima. They have two kids, one of whom is Susana, an actress known for her roles in various movies and TV shows.

Throughout Peseiro’s coaching career, his family, including his wife and daughter, has always supported him. They were there at the Peace Stadium to celebrate the team’s success in the AFCON 2023 tournament.

José Vítor dos Santos Peseiro, born on April 4, 1960, hails from Portugal. He’s a former football player turned coach, currently leading the Nigeria national team.

Beginning his career in 1979 with Sport Lisboa e Cartaxo, José played in the Segunda Liga before moving through clubs like Amora FC, Clube Oriental de Lisboa, GD Samora Correia, and S.C.U. Torreense over five seasons.

Retiring in 1994 after playing with União de Santarém in the fourth division, José transitioned into coaching, starting as a player-coach and gradually climbing the managerial ladder.

He notably achieved promotion with C.D. Nacional in three seasons and managed Sporting CP during the 2004–05 season. José also had managerial stints at Real Madrid, Panathinaikos FC, and FC Rapid București.

He briefly took charge of the Saudi Arabia national team during the 2010 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign. In 2012, José joined S.C. Braga, leading them to the group stage of the Champions League.

Despite winning the Taça da Liga, his contract was terminated at the end of the season. José’s career had its highs and lows, including managerial roles in the UAE Pro League and a brief tenure at FC Porto in 2016.

Returning to Braga in 2018, he was relieved of his duties after a series of poor performances. In 2020, José became the head coach for Venezuela.

Though facing challenges at the 2021 Copa América, he earned praise for his team’s results. However, due to unpaid wages and economic issues, he resigned in August.

On December 29, 2021, José reached a verbal agreement with the Nigeria Football Federation to coach the national team. After some hurdles, he officially became the head coach on May 15, 2022.
