It has been reported that Mahmood Yakubu, the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has obtained a court judgement barring the security agency from arresting him.
The Department of State Services (DSS) has reacted to this claim. Earlier today, it was reported that a federal high court that was sitting in Abuja had dismissed charges that Yakubu had made a fake asset statement.
The judge also prevented the DSS, the police, and the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) from investigating him over his asset declaration.
Peter Afunanya, a spokesperson for the DSS, provided a response to the news on Friday, January 6, stating that the agency has never filed a lawsuit against the INEC chairman and does not have a case against him.
