Kunle Afolayan Biography
Afolayan is of Igbomina-Yoruba descent and hails from Kwara State. Ade Love, a theatrical and film director, is his father. He studied finance and began his career in banking before deciding to pursue full-time filmmaking and enrolling in a course at the New York Film Academy.
He has been working in the Nigerian film industry since 2005. Many of his films have been directed by him, including The Figurine: Araromire (in Yoruba and English) and Phone Swap. The Figurine won five major African Film Academy awards and was a box office success in Nigeria.
Afolayan and his colleague Zeb Ejiro represented the Nigerian film industry at the Subversive Film Festival in 2011. Phone Swap made its French debut in May 2013 at the inaugural NollywoodWeek Paris, where it won the Public Choice Award.
Tolu and Afolayan got married in 2007 and have four kids. Their marriage ended in 2019. He regards himself as a Freethinker. Kunle Afolayan and his ex-wife, Tolu Afolayan, were a celebrity couple whose marriage was kept secret for many years until claims of infidelity and idolatry surfaced.
As a result, after 12 years and three children, their marriage allegedly terminated in 2019. Their breakup, however, remains a mystery because neither Kunle nor Tolu has made an official declaration. Kunle has been a member of the Afolayan Dynasty, the MD and CEO of Golden Effects Pictures and Kap Motion, and an actor, director, and producer for many years.
Tolu, on the other hand, rose to notoriety after marrying Kunle. She is currently fascinated with high-end jewelry, clothing, and stylish accessories. Tolu is a wealthy entrepreneur in the Afolayan community, though not as well-known as her husband. Even if their jobs are doing well, their marriage may be a disaster. Here’s all you need to know about Kunle and Tolu’s marriage, divorce, and remarriage.
It is unknown when they first met, but the couple is said to have been together since 2005, when Kunle graduated from the New York Film Academy with a diploma in Digital Film Making. They married in a ceremony that was recorded in the family records in 2007, and they went on to raise their children and advance their careers.
The couple has been married for 12 years, and they share their happy moments on social media while keeping their problems secret. Kunle, an award-winning producer, director, and actor, and Tolu, a famous jeweler, have three children, with Kunle having a fourth child from a prior relationship.
Kunle published more photographs of his children online between 2017 and 2021, spending family time and making memories. His children have publicly expressed their gratitude in their own distinct ways for their father’s love and care.
How Kunle Afolayan Marriage Started Crashing
Kunle and Tolu appeared to have a blissful marriage until 2013, six years after they married. Allegations surfaced that Kunle was neglecting his son Diekola. This was the first time their marriage attracted unwanted attention, but it is unclear whether it had any effect on their relationship.
However, there was even more anger when Kunle uploaded a photo of himself from his Polytechnic days. He captioned the photo, stating he’s always been a women guy because he grew up with female friends.
This ladies’ guy label is a crucial indicator of his marriage to his wife’s failure. Furthermore, Tolu has accused her husband of adultery with a number of women over the years, some of whom have even contributed financially to some of his projects.
She later said that the actor was idolatrous, and she was concerned about her children being engaged at this time. Kunle, on the other hand, positioned himself as a dynamic Yoruba man who educates his children about their history and heritage.
However, new information regarding the once-happy couple’s marital collapse emerged in 2019. Kunle’s 45th birthday photos, which did not include Tolu on September 30th, grabbed the attention of their followers and sparked rumors about the collapse of their marriage.
Following that, the 2020 Lagos Business School graduate was seen altering her social media handle to “Aduke the Jeweler” and reappearing with an enigmatic message regarding personal space purification, forgiveness, and overall recovery from situations.
According to a source at the Nigerian Immigration Office, more drama happened in August 2020, when Tolu was renewing passports for herself and her child, Kunle filed a letter to the agency demanding that she be denied permission to renew the passports.
According to the source, her identity was unknown because the person in charge of her requests was unable to connect her to famed filmmaker Kunle Afolayan until she received hers. She was then refused access to her son’s passport.
While no information on whether the couple is legally divorced was available at the time of writing, it is no longer a secret that Tolu moved out of the family home and is now living alone, according to rumors that she is currently dating a wealthy Lagos man who allegedly bought her a car one week after she left Kunle. According to accounts, she was already in this relationship prior to her divorce from her spouse.
There are several reasons for the choice to split up, but they are all tied up in reports of a hostile and tense atmosphere at the Afolayans. Irreconcilable differences and claims of adultery on both sides were the key causes.
Who Is Kunle Afolayan Currently Married To
Since his divorce from Tolu, the multi-talented entertainer has only shared photos of himself and his children, and on rare occasions, photos of the children with their grandmother.
Kunle Afolayan is currently focused on his work, having recently added the well-received film Citation to his resume. In addition, he agreed to agreements with Netflix in March 2021.
Kunle Afolayan Children
Contrary to popular belief, Eyiyemi is Kunle’s first child, not Diekoloreoluwa David, aka Diekola. On September 11, 2005, she was born a few months before Diekoloreoluwa.
There is no way of knowing if she was born by Tolu because she was born two years before Tolu and Kunle married. Despite the fact that Eyiyemi does not appear to be in the spotlight much, she has modeled for her father’s clothing company, Ire clothes, on several occasions.

On April 13, 2015, pirated copies of October 1 reached the market shortly after his outburst.

In 2021, the filmmaker agreed to make three feature films for Netflix, including a cinematic adaptation of Sefi Atta’s book Swallow.
