Kamaru Usman to Fight Leon Edwards
According to Ali Abdelaziz, Kamaru Usman’s manager, the rematch for the UFC Welterweight Championship between Kamaru Usman and Leon Edwards will take place in the month of March.
When Edwards defeated the “Nigerian Nightmare” in a dramatic fashion back in August, he became only the second British fighter in the history of the UFC to ever win the gold medal.
On March 18th, at UFC 286, which will be the first time the UFC has offered a pay-per-view event in the United Kingdom since 2016; the fight will be the third and final installment of their trilogy.
Ali Abdelaziz, who manages Usman, reacted to Twitter to refute reports that the UFC was actively looking for a substitute opponent. He also stated that Usman is “good to go,” although he did not mention the proposed March date.
The first time the two clashed was in 2015, when Usman emerged victorious on the scorecards used by the judges. At UFC 278 in 2018, Edwards scored the victory for himself by delivering a knockout blow to the long-time champion.
