Yandoto added that the bandits were given N10 million in ransom shortly after they were freed, since he was speaking to the Punch shortly after their release.

“They gathered ten million naira, brought me and my children to a location close to Faskari town in Katsina State, and then instructed us to find our way back home.

We were just liberated from the bandits’ camp about an hour ago, and I thank God that I did not end up being killed while I was there. We were only there for about an hour “he remarked.

He thanked everyone who had helped him get released by donating money or other resources.

Yandoto responded, “I can’t rule out that possibility” when asked if the motivation behind his kidnapping was related to politics. I don’t want to go into too much detail regarding the situation right now.”

A relative of Yandoto’s who asked to remain anonymous stated that the bandits called him and demanded N50 million in ransom money.

According to him, however, after a series of discussions between the bandits and the family, the amount of money demanded was eventually lowered to N5 million.

It is important to remember that Yandoto once placed the blame for the growing level of insecurity in the state on the former governor of the state, Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar, as well as Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa.
